Yad Ezra's 2009 Annual Fundraising Event
Monday, October 5th at 6:00pm at Adat Shalom

"The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions."
Confucius, The Confucian Analects
Chinese philosopher & reformer (551 BC - 479 BC)
When Ron Charfoos was asked to be Yad Ezra's honoree for 2009, his immediate response was "Why me? You're asking the wrong guy." Ron further explained that while he has supported a number of agencies in our community, he likes doing it quietly.
Agencies throughout the Jewish community have benefited from Ron and his family's thoughtful and impactful dedication and financial support over the years. He has volunteered his time and talent with Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, Adat Shalom Synagogue, Fresh Air Society/Tamarack and Yad Ezra. Ron and his family were responsible for making the first endowment donation to Yad Ezra's "Chicken in Every Pot" program to ensure that our vulnerable families receive chickens in their grocery packages. He has also provided generously towards capital improvements that directly benefit the clients and volunteers in the agency's building.
Ron, a general contractor and president of Charfoos and Company, is married to Lynda, an Interior Designer, father to Amye and Lou Goldhaber and Nichole and Aaron Charfoos, and grandfather to Isabella and Jack Charfoos. Ron is often described as bright, thoughtful, professional, and above all, nice. According to Alan Yost, Executive Director of Adat Shalom, "Ron gives Tzedakah for the right reasons...he understands what true Tzedakah is."
Yad Ezra's leadership is thrilled that with the help of co-chairs, Bluma and Robert Schechter and Esther and Neal Zalenko, we are able to pay tribute to this nice man who is much more comfortable taking a walk in the woods, or appreciating the majesty of a mountain range, then having people pay tribute to him.
