Yad Ezra provides supplemental kosher food, necessities and enhancements of holidays and lifecycle events to those in need in the Jewish community. We are committed to operating a high quality food pantry through hard work and support of staff, volunteers and donors.
Yad Ezra, which translated from Hebrew means “helping hand”, opened its doors in 1990 with the purpose of providing assistance to needy Jewish families in southeastern Michigan. The founders of Yad Ezra learned that there were impoverished families living in the community who relied heavily on food stamps issued monthly by the government. Yad Ezra was founded to address this vulnerable population in need of continuous food assistance and to provide free groceries to any individual at least one time, regardless of religious affiliation, who comes to our warehouse for help.
Yad Ezra has developed a straightforward mission that includes helping vulnerable Jewish families and advocating on behalf of those who are hungry with easily identifiable components.
Dollars = Food, Advocacy = Alleviating Hunger
